GLISCO seeks to expand its production facilities in Mbarara. The project cost is USD 53 million for construction of an iron processing plant, acquisition and installation of equipment for manufacture of sponge iron, steel billets, wire rods, etc.
Project capacity: 75,000 MT of steel smelting, 150,000 MT of sponge iron, and 250,000 MT of wire rods.
Mining lease (ML No. 702) dated November 8, 2010, covering approximately 451.686 Ha (4.52 km2) in Kisoro District, containing rich Hematite Iron Ore deposits (Fe content 80%+), expiring November 8, 2031. NEMA Certificate obtained November 2, 2023.
